‘After
the Storms’
The hurricane season of 2004 was quite devastating to all portions of Florida and the Southeast. From my previous visits to St. George Island I had known this location as two short stump sections sticking up from the ground about 24”. The hurricanes moved enough sand to show the full complex structure of an entire tree. A lot of beach was redistributed that year!
Epilogue: Hurricane Dennis, a freak early July storm in 2005 washed away this landmark tree and a large part of the beach seen in this photo.
